This is a program conducted by Soroptimist of Rim of the World.  As a volunteer service organization, Soroptimist believes that by acknowledging young women’s volunteer involvement now, they will grow up to be vital active members of the community.

Violet Richardson

Honoring Young Women 14 - 17 of age for Volunteer Action
Named for the president of the first Soroptimist club, the Violet Richardson Award honors girls who are making a difference through volunteer service. Richardson believed in personal responsibility and the motto, “It’s what you do that counts.” She lived her life accordingly , as an active member in her community who was committed to creating opportunities for girls and young women.
Each year, our Soroptimist club honors young ladies who donate their time and energy to causes that make the community and world a better place  - such as working to end discrimination and poverty, assisting women and children who are victims of domestic violence, or mentoring young girls.
The young lady is recognized at a luncheon and awarded a monetary gift to be shared with her charity of choice.
